Date of Designation: December 29, 1989

Many cultural assets are concealed throughout Goyang. The Shrine to Prince Wolsan located at Hoguk-ro 1245beon-gil is one of them.
Prince Wolsan was the older brother of the ninth king of Joseon, Seongjong. His name was Yi Jeong (1454–1488) and he was known by the pen name Pungwoljeong.
According to reports, his name was also well-known in China due to his excellent writing.
Seongjong named the pavilion in his home Pungwoljeong, and Prince Wolsan is renowned for his profound loyalty and friendship with Seongjong of Joseon.
The shrine was constructed before 1693 (19th year of King Sukjong's reign), and in 1786 (10th year of King Jeongjo's reign), the existing structures were rebuilt.
During the reigns of King Jeongjo and Sunjo, courtiers performed ancestral rites on behalf of the king, and King Yeongjo personally bestowed the Seokgwangsa signboard.
A small kiln known as a yoyeo, which was used when transporting spirit tablets, still resides within the shrine, and there is an old nurse tree standing next to the shrine.
