Visit Goyang

You can find an unexpected place that has a decidedly Korean feel to it in Goyang-dong. It is the Latin American Cultural Center that displays artifacts collected by director Lee Bok-hyeong, a former diplomat, and chairman Hong Gap-pyo, who spent over 40 years living in four Latin American countries. There are museums, art galleries, sculpture parks, religious exhibition halls, and convenience facilities on the 16,528㎡ site containing ancient artifacts, modern and contemporary artwork, and sculptures. It is a place where you can encounter Latin American cultures that are difficult to come across in Korea. In the sculpture park, where the dark red architecture stands out, there are sculptures by Mexican, Chilean, and Colombian artists, including Laura, Four Winds, Flight, and Jar Wall. In addition, chairman Hong Gap-pyo himself designed the antiquated religious exhibition hall. There are religious-themed displays inside, including The Last Supper, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Retablo.
