in Korea
Registered as a ramsar wetland (May 21, 2021) Ramsar wetland: A water bird habitat of global significance which has been registered as the 24th wetland in Korea
Janghang Wetland in the city center that spans over an area of 7.49 km2 is a national wetland protection zone. Janghang Wetland located not very far from the city center of Goyang unfolds a completely different landscape from the city, enough to create doubt in the short distance traveled. The expansive and fair view of the sky and the ecosystem of the wetland clear away all the impurities lurking in the mind. A walk along the eco-trail across the 163 acres of willow forest feels like a warm hug from the mother nature.
Pretty erect willows also captivate your eyes as this is the largest colony of erect willows in Korea. This wetland also boasts of brown sesarmid crabs that share their habitat with willow trees. The fact that tens of thousands of migratory birds come and stay here every year and hundreds of different species of animals and plants enjoy the wetland shows how well this place has preserved its natural beauty.
